The results are out for imbibe’s Sommelier awards 2010.
Its good news with some strong contenders, and a handful of medals, including….

Bai Gorri Crianza 2005 – Gold Medal
Surani Primativo 2007 – Gold Medal
Palacio de Fefeñanes 2008 – Silver Medal
The Charge Tempranillo/Garnacha 2007 – Silver Medal
Vignapetrosa Chardonnay del Salento 2008 – Silver Medal
Fefeñanes 3 Anos 2005 – Silver Medal

A little bird tells me, there’s good news to come.
Watch this space in September, we may have won a couple of Trophies for our wines in the latest round of competitions.

Moreno is back in Priorato with a new agency Vinedos de Ithaca.
We have always been lovers of the beautiful mountainous Priorato, but often disappointed with the wine making and indeed pricing.

Enter Joseph Puig and winemaking daughter Silvia and there 11 hectares.
Joseph set Torres Chile up from scratch, later co-founded Cellers Puig y Roca (of Augustus fame) and Silvia’s winemaking credentials include spells at Magaña and Alión.

They make some rather wonderful wines, including Akyles Macabeo 2009
Odysseus PX 2009 (a white dry P.X.!) Odysseus Garnacha Blanca 09 and, for the reds Akyles 07 and Odysseus 2005.

In recent times we have had more of an interest in entry level wines. Whilst we have some rather fine offerings from Campo de Borja, Navara and Chile we thought it was time to look for something new. After many many samples (some better than others!) and much searching we think we might have discovered something a bit special!

Camino Alto is a Tempranillo from Cordoba. Cordoba is usually a little hot for a fresh red, but because of a rather fine microclimate Camino alto is just that, fresh, fruity and vivid! It’s also quite well priced!
