Penley's latest vintages have begun their rise to fame with the first of the wine show results and some impressive international ratings.
First off, the Penley Phoenix Cabernet 2006 in addition to a Silver in the London International Wine Challenge has recieved 91 points (Robert Parker), 90 points (Harvey Steiman), 90 points - Tanzer and a whopping 93 points from Nick Stock making it the Penguin Good Australian Wine Guide Best Value Red. As Nick says: "Kym Tolley consistently makes a great wine under this Poenix label. Rich Cabernet aromas, regal and defined, have the full array of berries, leaves and mint, with fragrant French oak lifting the purple florals". John Fordham in the Sunday Telegraph 25th May 2008 comments: "Rich, full bodied and elegant - a benchmark bottling.

The 2004 Reserve Cabernet continued its success with 91 points in Februarys Wine Enthusiast, on the back of 1 gold, 7 silver, 9 bronze and an incredible 8 ratings of 90+ points.

The Gryphon Merlot, having been Gourmet Travellers top Coonawarra Merlot with the 2005 vintage has been followed by the 2006 which Max Crus, winewriter for the Daily Examiner preferred: commenting "While Coon'might do cab pretty well its no slug with merlot" !

Penley Hyland Shiraz 2005: James Halliday's Wine Companion gives this 93 points, Tanzers International Wine Cellar gives it 91 points, The Wine Spectators Harvey Steinman gave it 90 points. Medals: 1 gold, 4 silvers.
