Among many interesting flavour descriptions of the stunning Sed de Cana was 'tea leaf' as well as 'chocolate' recently in a Ribera del Duero tasting at Decanter magazine.

An illustrious Decanter judging panel have awarded Sed de Cana 2005 5 stars in the November issue and this impressive top Ribera has also been admitted to the Wines of the Year December Edition. A great acheivement for this still young operation. Bodegas y Vinedos del Jaro produce Sed de Cana (thirst of Canaan) in tiny quantities. 2,000 bottles come from vineyards making up one small corner of the Estates top vineyards.

Everything here is manually harvested and hand crafted. The wine itself never touched stainless steel and is fermented in barrels. Amy Hopkinson on the judging panel commented: 'Smoky oak with tea leaf and chocolate. Fresh, mineral acidity, balanced with brambly red fruit and well-handled and well integrated oak. From 2009"

The 2005 vintage is available now. If you don't want to wait until 2009 and there is no reason why you have to, you can also order the equally impressive 2004 vintage of which some limited stocks still remain.
